Skype will be creating resources for every profile in your contact list (photos especially can eat up ram), your own profile and any history about that it keeps, creating buffers for handling connections, buffers for histories of conversations, etc. Skype as an application from Facebook remove Log in to Facebook and then select by clicking on the cog at the top right of the account settings. I would suggest you create a new Skype account to continue using Skype. If you were not able to transfer or export your contacts prior to this date, there isn't any option to recover them.

To continue using Skype, either create a new Microsoft account or sign in with an existing. Thankfully, the company is making the process of switching from Facebook-login to a Microsoft account pretty simple, including automatically transferring Skype credit and so on. You can no longer login to Skype via Facebook as of January 2018. Microsoft has not said anything about why it is introducing the change - it would seem to make sense to make it as easy as possible for someone to sign into their account, and that's exactly what the Facebook login option did.
